Sharmin Sultana is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. With a solid academic background including two M.Sc. degrees—one in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and another in Genetics and Plant Breeding—she excels in integrating advanced molecular techniques with plant science applications. Sharmin Sultana has demonstrated outstanding academic performance, securing top honors and prestigious fellowships, including the National Science and Technology (NST) Fellowship bestowed by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Bangladesh. Research Interests Sharmin Sultana’s research focuses on plant genetic diversity, molecular breeding, and biochemistry for crop improvement and functional plant compounds. Her work involves assessing genetic variability within important crop species, such as Brassica, Kenaf, and Sesame, using multivariate and molecular analysis. She is also passionate about exploring the biochemical and antioxidant properties of medicinal and edible plants, including mushrooms, hibiscus, and bitter gourd, aiming to understand their therapeutic potential. Her ongoing projects include screening drought-tolerant varieties, evaluating nutritional and phytochemical properties for sustainable agricultural practices.
