Dr. Mohammed Sakhawat Hossain is a distinguished Bangladeshi entomologist, researcher, educator, and international trainer with more than 23 years of academic, research, and extension experience in agricultural science, pollinator management, integrated pest management, and sustainable beekeeping. Currently serving as Professor in the Department of Entomology at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, he has played a leading role in advancing honey bee research, pollinator safety, eco-friendly pest management, and agricultural innovation in Bangladesh. Dr. Hossain earned his PhD in Entomology through international collaboration with universities in Belgium and Australia and has received multiple national and international awards for excellence in training, teaching, and research. His work includes the development of 15 innovative technologies related to beekeeping, honey production, queen breeding, black soldier fly rearing, and pest management systems. He has successfully led and participated in numerous projects funded by organizations such as FAO, KGF, BAS-USDA, Syngenta, and the Ministry of Science and Technology. As an accomplished researcher, he has published more than 35 scientific papers in reputed journals and supervised over 50 postgraduate and doctoral research students. Dr. Hossain is also widely recognized for his contributions to farmer training, biodiversity conservation, pollinator protection, and sustainable agricultural development across Bangladesh, making him one of the country’s leading experts in apiculture and applied entomology.
