Dr. Delower Hossain is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine and Public Health at the Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) in Dhaka, Bangladesh, a position he has held since December 2018.

Dr. Delower earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) in 2016, achieving an excellent academic record that included a one-year internship and an externship in India. In recognition of his outstanding clinical performance, he was honored with the Best Clinical Award from the Teaching Veterinary Hospital at CVASU in 2015. He later completed his Master of Science (MS) in Medicine at CVASU in 2019.

Before his appointment at SAU, Dr. Hossain served as a Research Assistant from January 2017 to November 2018 on a collaborative project between Bangladesh, Sweden, and the Netherlands. Funded by the Swedish Research Council, this project aimed to develop an Udder Health Control Program for dairy cows in Bangladesh.

Dr. Delower is deeply committed to animal health and welfare. He is actively involved with Udder Health Bangladesh, where he trains dairy farmers on best practices to enhance dairy farming and improve udder health. His contributions have been recognized with several prestigious awards. In 2019, he became the first recipient from Bangladesh to receive the Gustav Rosenberger Memorial Award (GRMF) for his exceptional research in the dairy sector. In 2024, he received the Best Photo Challenge Award for his entry in the Veterinary Medicine category during "VAS DAYS 2024" at the University of Milan (UNIMI), Italy. More recently, in 2025, he was honored with the NMC Scholar Award 2026 from the National Mastitis Council (NMC), the global milk quality organization, for his significant research and scientific contributions to controlling mastitis and improving milk quality. Additionally, NMC provides travel support to attend the NMC Annual Meeting in Birmingham, Alabama, USA.

Dr. Hossain is actively engaged in the broader scientific and academic community. He holds memberships in the National Mastitis Council (NMC), the Microbiology Society (UK), and Protistology-UK, and is a global outreach member of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM). He is also a lifelong member of One Health Bangladesh and Udder Health Bangladesh (UHB). In addition to his professional affiliations, he is dedicated to student mentorship, serving as a co-moderator of the SAU Science Club, and as an advisor to both the International Veterinary Students' Association (IVSA) Bangladesh-SAU Dhaka chapter and The Association of Coding, Technology, and Genomics (ACTG).

He has contributed to key national standards, participating in the development of the "Standard Treatment Guidelines" (STGs) for food animals, an initiative by the Department of Livestock Services (DLS) of Bangladesh in collaboration with the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO-UN). He also contributed to the Bangladesh National Veterinary Formulary (BDNVF) 2023, an official publication of the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, supported by USAID, the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) Bangladesh, and the Promoting the Quality of Medicines Plus (PQM+) Program.

His scholarly work includes over 30 research articles in reputable international journals, 5 book chapters, and three books with recognized international publishers. Currently, he is pursuing a Ph.D. in Microbiome and Antimicrobial Resistance using a One Health approach at the University of Milan in Italy.
