Koushik Chakroborty is a Lecturer in the Department of Aquatic Environment and Resource Management at the Faculty of Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Marine Science, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), Dhaka, Bangladesh. He holds an MS in Fisheries Biology and Aquatic Environment and a BS in Fisheries from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU). During his MS program, he secured a perfect CGPA of 4.00 out of 4.00, and in his BS program, he attained a CGPA of 3.997 out of 4.00, consistently ranking at the top of his class. His academic journey is further highlighted by his outstanding performance in secondary and higher secondary education, where he achieved a GPA of 5.00 in both SSC and HSC examinations from Pabna Cadet College. He was nominated for the Prime Minister’s Gold Medal (2019) and received the Nagao Natural Environment Foundation Scholarship (2015-2018) and the Merit Scholarship from BSMRAU for highest CGPA during his undergraduate studies (2015-2018).
Koushik’s research focuses on aquaculture, fisheries management, and the socio-economic impacts of contemporary practices in the field. He has contributed to several peer-reviewed publications, including studies on fish feed additives, aquamimicry culture system, the use of seaweed and its derivatives in aquaculture, and the socio-economic conditions of fish farmers in Bangladesh. His research interests also extend to GIS and remote sensing applications, as well as fish population dynamics in open water resources. His work reflects a strong commitment to improving aquaculture practices and promoting sustainable fisheries management.
In addition to his academic and research pursuits, Koushik is actively involved in co-curricular activities, having participated in debates, cultural competitions, and leadership summits. He is a member of professional organizations such as the Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC) and the Fisheries Alumni Association of BSMRAU. His dedication to environmental sustainability is evident through his participation in workshops and conferences on climate resilience and water sustainability.
