Professor Dr. Ashrafi is an agriculturist who completed her MS in Biochemistry from SAU, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Dr. Ashrafi was a CSIR-TWAS fellow at the CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore, India, from 2014 to 2018. She was awarded her Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (with a specialization in Biochemistry) in 2019. After completing her Ph.D., she has joined the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and served as the chairperson from July 2020 to June 2022. She is a recipient of the TWAS-Sida grant for individual scientists (2021). Dr. Ashrafi was also a research fellow at the Indian National Science Academy (2022-2023). She is a member of the editorial team (2023-2026) of the Indian Food Industry Mag (IFI Mag), a bi-monthly technology and trade journal published by the Association of Food Scientists & Technologists (India). Her research interests include phytonutrients, nutraceuticals, grain quality and processing, and functional food development. She is currently leading several ongoing projects funded by SAURES, the Government of Bangladesh, and international organizations. Dr. Ashrafi has published numerous research articles in peer-reviewed national and international journals.
