Dr. Jamilur Rahman is a Professor of Genetics and Plant Breeding at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He did his Post-Doctoral research from Max Planck Institute, Germany, and obtained Ph.D. from International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi. Being a teacher, his main interest is to educate and to motivate the students for understanding the basic principles and performing high-quality research for the betterment of farmers and humankind.
Dr. Rhaman participated and presented his research work in a number of international conferences, seminars, and workshops in UK, Germany, France, Spain, China, India, and Bangladesh. So far, he has published 41 scientific articles in SCI-indexed reputed journals including BMC Plant Biology, Crop Science, Virology, Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Plant Biotechnology Reports, etc.
His researches mainly focus on crop improvement associated with yield, quality, high-temperature, and disease-resistance stress-adaptation of crops. Conventional and molecular plant breeding, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and tissue culture approaches are practiced to address the research questions and to test the research hypotheses.
