Prof. Dr. Shah Johir Rayhan

 

Dr. Shah Johir Rayhan is a Professor and Chairman of the Department of Agricultural Finance and Management, Faculty of Agribusiness Management, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University and former Provost of Sher-e-Bangla Hall, and Associate Director of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Research System (SAURES) of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Prof. Rayhan completed BSc (Hons.) in Agriculture from Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU). Later he completed his MS in Agricultural Economics from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University and PhD in Agricultural Economics and Management from the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Management, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science, China. He also completed MBA from American International University-Bangladesh and Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management from the Bangladesh Institute of Management (BIM).

Prof. Rayhan worked as a Consultant for the Government and Non-Government Organizations of Bangladesh. He was also the former, and Ex-Chairman of the Agricultural Finance and Management, SAU. Prof. Rahman is also involved as an expert Member of the PARTNER-DAM project.

His major expertise includes policy review and analysis, econometric modelling with cross-sectional and time series data, financial and economic cost-benefit analysis, rural credit, value chain, entrepreneurship development, climate-smart agriculture adaptation, technology adoption, food security, and impact evaluation of policy intervention using a quasi-experimental approach. So far Prof. Rayhan has published more than 31 papers in peer-reviewed National and International journals.

Dr. Rayhan has experience working with PARTNER, FAO, World Bank (NATP-BARC), HEQEP (UGC), SAURES, MOST etc. projects.
