Teacher Overview

Most. Zakiya Islam is currently serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Chemistry at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), Dhaka, Bangladesh. Prior to joining SAU, she served as a Scientific Officer at the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI). She has demonstrated exceptional academic excellence throughout her academic career. She completed her B.Sc. (Hons.) in Agriculture from Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University with an outstanding CGPA of 4.00/4.00, securing 1st position among the graduates of the Faculty of Agriculture. She subsequently completed her M.Sc. in Agricultural Chemistry from the same university, again achieving the highest possible CGPA of 4.00/4.00. In recognition of her outstanding academic performance, she received several prestigious awards and scholarships, including the UGC Merit Scholarship (2020), the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence (2019 and 2023) for outstanding performance across Levels 1–4, and the National Science and Technology (NST) Fellowship from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Bangladesh. She was also awarded the Nagao Natural Environment Foundation (NEF) Scholarship, Japan, in recognition of her outstanding academic achievement. Furthermore, she was nominated for the Prime Minister’s Gold Medal (2019) for securing 1st position among the graduates of the Faculty of Agriculture in her undergraduate program. Her academic achievements, research interests, and professional experience reflect a strong commitment to agricultural chemistry, food safety, environmental science, and sustainable agriculture.
