Message From Vice Chancellor

It is a great pleasure for me to be the Vice-Chancellor of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), Dhaka. The bucolic serene green campus is located in the heart of the gleeful Dhaka city. Over the last 77 years, it has transformed into a public university with three faculties and produced more than 14000 agricultural graduates those have founded the firm base of agriculture of the nation.

The mission of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University is based upon the firm belief that agricultural education, particularly higher education provides a critical pathway to leadership development in academic and research fields as well as in achieving sustainable agricultural development, socio-economic progress of the country.

Presently, SAU is offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs through a course credit system with the aim to producing researchers, academicians and field level extension specialists in the field of Agriculture to deal with the issues like food production, poverty and hunger alleviation, food security, Protein Energy Malnutrition (PEM), Micro-Nutrient Deficiency (MND) etc. About 322 highly qualified faculty members are shouldering the academic responsibility as well as other research activities of the university.

His Excellency President and Chancellor of the University has appointed me as the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU). I am proud and honored to welcome you to explore this University as a center of excellence in Bangladesh. Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University is established to ensure the agricultural development of Bangladesh by providing quality education, research and extension through generating smart graduates.

Who are able to tackle both local and global challenges in agriculture. To grow more production, climate smart agricultural technology has no alternative that ensure food security, food safety and minimize environmental pollution by using harmful pesticides and fertilizers. This University maintains strong links with various reputed universities, higher educational and research organizations in national and international levels to conduct globally competitive research using frontier technologies, especially in agriculture sciences. Through the outreach activities of the University, the potential technologies have been transferred and disseminated to the farmer levels. These, in an integrated way, have raised the University to the level of a center of excellence in Agriculture.
